The Lanakila Classic, Redondo Beach 2014 turned out to be another great winter series race in Southern California. Some the worlds top racers were on hand including Belar Diez, Danny Ching, Rob Rojas and many more. BOGA Team racers once again turned in a strong showing, with all 3 racers making podium in the results with 3 third place finishes. After leading 90% of the 12.6 class race, Elite Racer Jeramie Vaine was held up by some OC 1 boats in the final leg, losing valuable time and letting SoCal elites Karl Ring and Brandon Rambo sneak by. Also coming in 3rd was BOGA owner Dave Meyler and Holly McMullen in the woman’s class.

The Carolina CUP Race is noted as a top world class event in the SUP community. This years 2013 lived up to its title as more than 400 paddlers for 40 states and 6 countries converged on Wrightsville Beach, NC. The Elite class was stacked with over 20 of the worlds top names in Stand Up, a list of names rare to see at one event. The 13 Mile course proved to to match its name “The Graveyard” race as conditions and currents brewed up one of the events more difficult in history.
BOGA once again showed up in force with Jeramie Vaine taking an impressive top 10 result in the Elite 13 course. Other BOGA victories could be seen in all classes, including a top 3 in the woman’s 6 mile race, 1st in the Surf Class, 3rd in Masters and a 7th overall in the Money Run Race against over 140 paddlers. More details to follow.
One of the most grueling races of the year took place on the USA’s number one voted beach Siesta Key this April, 2013. Racers from all over the state and beyond dueled it out for 13 miles in high ocean swells, windy inland bays. They even maneuvered over hundreds of Stingrays at one point while chasing down the clock in the huge wind swell.
BOGA’s Jeramie Vaine from CA took First place 12.6 (Second overall) minutes ahead of any other racers in the Men’s class. Female athlete and Florida local Cat Uden took a hard fought 2nd overall in the woman’s class in the what she claims as “the hardest race ever done”. Dave Meyler rounded up the wins by taking 1st overall in the short race (On the El Rey Surf Shape, beating all race boards).
Post race, we were greeted with some rare waves at Siesta Key and surfed the end of the day away. Thanks to all our friends and racers for making the Siesta Key Classic one to remember!
April 16th- 2011 – BOGA Team Rider Ben Sarrazin managed to once again show his amazing paddle skills with a first place finish at the scenic BlueRushBoardSports SF Gate Down Wind Race. Under blue skies and with the scenic Golden Gate Bridge towering above, racers lined up for the approx 5 Mile down wind course. Right from the start Ben Sarrazin’s SF Bay paddling experience proved hard to beat as he took the lead and paddled to another 1st place aboard the 12.6 BOGA race board.
A big congratulations to Ben and the event organizers for another wonderful SUP SF Bay area event.
